Slovenian Apiary (2019), Village of Kiwanosato with Motoko Fujita, Grizedale Arts, Hayatsu Architects & Forerunner, curated by Adam Sutherland. Image: the artists.

In 2019 we were invited to teach as part of an Architecture Summer School in the a rural Japanese village. The project is part of the The Expanded 10 Year Dream of Kiwanosato, initiated by villagers of Kiwanosato in an attempt to revitalise their village and develop it as an educational resource. For this project the village accepted our proposal to re-build a Slovenian style Apiary developed by Anton Janša using Japanese timber building techniques. Led by Takeshi Hayatsu and initiated by Motoko Fujita with support of Grizedale Arts.
